Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Reports To: Classroom Teacher and Director of Special Needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to a preschool-aged student with special needs, promoting engagement, learning, and positive behavior.
- Assist with classroom routines including arrival, transitions, group activities, play, toileting, snack, and dismissal.
- Foster the student’s social and emotional development through positive reinforcement and modeling.
- Maintain open and respectful communication with the classroom teacher, special education staff, and family members.
- Support the student with toileting, hygiene, and sensory/behavioral needs if applicable, with dignity and care.
- Document observations and share relevant progress or concerns with the supervising team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children; experience with special needs or developmental differences preferred.
- Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing attitude.
- Ability to follow directions and collaborate with a team.
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend, lift up to 30 lbs, and actively engage in play and classroom activities.
- Able to maintain focus and provide consistent supervision and support.
- Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and a lifestyle of biblical integrity.
- Affirm and communicate doctrine consistent with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 revision, and The Nashville Statement.
- Fully supportive of the decisions and loyal to the mission and leadership of the school and the church.
- Passion for connecting with students and families in support of student success within a Christian environment.
