Job Title: Kindergarten Teacher
Reports To: K-4th Principal
Time Status: Full-time
JOB SUMMARY
To serve as a Kindergarten teacher in fulfillment of GCA’s mission to Lead, Build, and Equip students. Every member of Grace Christian Academy’s professional community must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ. It’s our relationship with Him that forms the basis for all we do as a school. SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professing believer in Jesus Christ with a strong Christian faith and lifestyle
- Ability to articulate and integrate a biblical worldview in all aspects of teaching
- Affirm and communicate doctrine consistent with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 revision, and The Nashville Statement - linked below.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in Education; advanced degree preferred
· High level of emotional intelligence
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills
· Experience integrating technology into the curriculum
· Ability to engage parents/guardians as partners in the student’s educational experience
· A history of continued growth and development as an educator and engagement in ongoing professional development
· A history of effective collaboration with colleagues, administrators, and parents
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:
· Give instructions to the students in the curriculum area assigned by the Principal
· Design teaching material
· Create lessons centered around a biblical worldview
· Facilitate course discussions on social issues from a biblical lens while acknowledging various denominational differences
· Devise lesson plans that follow GCA’s Curriculum and Instruction Standards and Course Maps
· Ability to hold students to a clearly articulated standard of performance
· Experiment with different teaching methods
· Differentiate instruction for students with learning challenges
· Maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes safe learning
· Utilize a learning management system for instruction
· Maintain cordial relationships with the home, parent(s)/guardian(s) and community
· Keep parent(s)/guardian(s) duly informed of the child’s progress and hold conferences with parent(s)/guardian(s) when necessary
· Report to the appropriate authorities when one knows or reasonably suspects that a child’s health or welfare has been or appears to have been harmed as a result of abuse or neglect.
· Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment
· Perform other duties as assigned
